Environmental Advice

Global warming, habitat destruction, depletion of resources, and toxic pollution of our air, soil and water put ourselves and our children at risk. Communities of color and low-income communities bear a disproportionate share of this environmental degradation and are frequently excluded from decision-making processes.

Your actions and lifestyle changes in your home and business will make a big difference for the future of humanity and all life on our planet. The seven steps below are a good way to begin:

· Contact your representatives at city, state and federal levels. Urge them to stop global warming.

· Go Carbon Neutral - Offset your emissions.

· Reduce Your Emissions - Take simple steps in your everyday life to help make a difference.

· Sign Up for Green Power - Get off dirty power produced by coal, oil and nuclear, and turn on to electricity produced by solar, wind and geothermal sources. This is an easy way to slow global warming and improve our air quality.

· Support Environmental and Social Justice (Environmental Defense Fund) Find out how communities of color and low-income communities are often subject to higher levels of toxic air, water and soil, and what you can do about it.

· Educate Yourself on the Environment (Earth Day Network) - The Earth Day Network Online Store has books, bumper stickers, etc. Profit on sales go to the Earth Day Network.

· Join the Campaign to Stay Informed - Send an email to: earthdayla@yahoo.com
